Fun and Faith on Fridays


1.  Our inaugural STEM project is inspired by *Awesome Engineering Activities for Kids* by Christina Herkert Schul. Cai was particularly enthusiastic about this activity.

  • Sitting together coloring the popsicle sticks was very relaxing. 
  • The push pins were too hard for Cai to push the pins through the sticks. 
  • Glue on the ends of the pins is a must.


2. The next thing I was really looking forward to was the CD Hovercraft. But before we got started, we noticed we didn't have the exact bottle cap we needed, which could mess with the experiment a bit.

The hovercraft is a fail for now. With the proper bottle cap we might succeed.

Hovercrafts, Hope, and Holy Lessons: A Fri-Yay Reflection

Cai’s disappointment was real. The hovercraft didn’t work—at least, not the way we imagined it would. Despite our best efforts, the pieces we collected might not have been the right ones for the experiment. And that’s okay.

Sometimes, when our plans don’t succeed, we feel a swirl of emotions: frustration, sadness, maybe even a little anger. But here’s the truth—God doesn’t want us to stay stuck in those feelings. He invites us to something better: peace, perspective, and perseverance.

We are creators, just like our Creator. When we build, explore, and experiment, we reflect a tiny spark of God’s creativity. So even when things don’t go as planned, we can still celebrate the process. We can appreciate our creation the way we appreciate God’s creation—with wonder, joy, and gratitude.

Let go of disappointment and expectations. Embrace the joy of trying. After all, we had fun together, didn’t we? We laughed, we learned, and we’ll try again. That’s the beauty of it.

And here’s the best part: when we are obedient to God—when we work with integrity, kindness, and faith—we can relax, knowing that no effort is ever wasted. Every attempt, every mistake, every “oops” moment is part of the journey. It’s all valuable.

Today, we covered math, science, English, and faith—all in one joyful, slightly wobbly hovercraft adventure. That’s what I call a Fri-Yay!

Faith That Holds You Up
